What is ISO 9001:2015? ISO 9001 is the world’s most recognized Quality Management System (QMS) and is standard in over 160 different countries. ISO plays an important role in facilitating world trade by providing common standards among different countries. These standards are intended to ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of good quality. It helps organizations of all sizes and sectors to improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality.
ISO 9001:2015 certification is a commitment that starts at the senior level of an organization and requires the company to meet stringent processes. For Finch Manufacturing, it starts at the initial phone call and outlines processes through final inspection and shipping. The whole Finch team worked together to develop our quality management system. Senior management believes and supports the ISO 9001:2015 program and ensured the resources were available to implement as well as ensures it is followed throughout the organization. To achieve our ISO 9001:2015 certification, Finch underwent a detailed audit of all our policies with an ISO consultant and an on-site inspection to confirm the Finch’s compliance as required by a 3rd party outside agency dedicated to ISO. For Finch Manufacturing, DEKRA, a leader in the system certification industry, performed our initial audit as well as our yearly and recertification audits. Finch also currently has three trained ISO internal auditors on staff to routinely maintain and ensure all processes are followed.
To Finch Manufacturing, ISO 9001:2015 assists Finch in meeting the needs of our customers and other stakeholders more effectively. This is achieved by building a framework to ensure consistent quality in providing goods and services. Another key aspect of ISO 9001:2015 is the management concept of Plan, Do, Check, and Act or PDCA. Simply, at Finch Manufacturing we have a formal process where the Finch team plans, implements, checks which is critical, and then reviews the process to ensure it makes sense. A multidepartment team will review the process and tweak it if necessary to ensure it adds value. It means we are continually looking to improve our processes and products in an organized and documented format.
The ISO9001:2015 quality process is part of all our actions. It requires that hundreds of policies and processes are monitored and documented. It would take pages to outline all the areas that our ISO program impacts. For example, Finch must certify our measuring equipment and document these calibrations. The Finch Manufacturing management team plans training, skills needed, experience, and qualifications. Maintain design requirements, closeout notes, and required customer communication required for the accurate manufacture of products.
